<p>We all know that if employees have problems with childcare, or their child is sick, there&#8217;s a great impact on both the individual and business a like.  The Government has for a long time now encouraged and legislated for improved provision for family friendly employment, as it&#8217;s widely understood that although a challenge for businesses to resolve, improvements in family friendly employment can deliver many commercial rewards.<span id="more-81"></span></p>
<p>The extract below, first published by the <a href="http://www.employment-studies.co.uk/main/index.php" target="_blank">Institute for Employment Studies</a> (IES) outlines some of the key benefits of family friendly employment</p>
<blockquote><p>In 1998, the Department for Education and Employment (DfEE) commissioned  the Institute for Employment Studies (IES) to conduct research into the  business benefits of family-friendly employment practices in small and  medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Family friendly practices refer to formal or informal terms and  conditions that exceed the statutory minimum, designed to enable an  employee to combine caring responsibilities with paid employment.</p>
<p>The key business benefits of family-friendly employment practices  identified in the study include:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Reduced casual sickness absence:</strong> most employers felt that  sickness absence due to employees’ caring responsibilities had been  reduced. This was reinforced by employees who felt more able to be  honest about absence due to dependants’ illness.</li>
<li><strong>Improved retention:</strong> each of the firms was able to  identify individuals who had stayed with them longer because of their  access to family-friendly provision. Most could estimate the number of  employees who would have left had such provision not been available.</li>
<li><strong>Improved productivity:</strong> many of the firms were  convinced that employees working flexible hours were more productive  than those working traditional hours/</li>
<li><strong>Improved recruitment:</strong> the firms felt that offering  family-friendly practices can attract potential recruits when seeking  vacancies and making comparative judgements of job offers.</li>
<li><strong>Improved morale and commitment:</strong> most firms believed  that morale and commitment among employees with caring responsibilities  was enhanced by family-friendly policies.</li>

<p>This report carried out in 1998 is almost 10 years old and although steps have been made by many companies to improve family friendly working practices at Safehands we believe there may be a better way.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Due to continued expansion, Safehands Network require Social Care Support Workers for permanent and casual/part-time contracts to work from Blackpool, Preston, Chorley and Warrington to cover days (full -time work) early mornings, lunchtimes, after shool,  teatimes, evenings, weekends and school holidays.  </p>
<p>Ideal candidates should have use of a vehicle and have experience in working with vulnerable older adults in the community and children with disabilities.  Pay is up to £7.00 (depending on region and experience), plus incentives and free uniform.</p>
<p>An NVQ level 2/3 in childcare or health and social care would be an advantage but is not essential as full training will be given to develop and regain skills in this thoroughly rewarding environment.  Ongoing support and development along with regular opportunities to advance career within the organisation.  Enhanced CRB is required and transport is essential.</p>
